In August 2015, we took significant steps to improve literacy for our kids by implementing an iPad-based program called Lexia Core5. In the final 4 months of 2015, this is what we saw happen:

  • 116 students are using Lexia
  • 90 students learned a combined 1,744 new words
  • 35 students advanced at least 1 grade level in literacy skills

On average, our kids are almost 2 grade levels behind in literacy skills, while our older students are almost 6 grade levels behind. But, Lexia is working and we are excited to continue these efforts in 2016! Even in the last 30 days, 40 students have mastered other lesson on their way to reading at grade level!

Thank you for your participation and encouragement! We are so excited about 2016!
